Katy, Texas based color consultant Lauren Battistini and SRH Paint Co share fall color inspiration for the home on Great Day Houston!

Hello, friends and color lovers worldwide!

I want to share with you the TV segment I did with Great Day Houston’s Cristina Kooker recently, in which we discussed fall color schemes for home interiors. We also covered the process I use to gain color inspiration and pick decor and paint colors.

Here are a few of my tips from the TV segment:

Find color inspiration from magazines, Pinterest, stepping out into nature and noticing color combinations, or just by visiting the paint store to experiment with different paint swatches. Those colors can then be used to start the search for home decor items.

There is always a limited selection of color in home decor, depending upon what is trending and what store buyers believe will sell in any particular season. While paint chips or other color palettes provide inspiration, so does finding an interesting piece of art or an area rug.

It is fine to start the whole process with a decor piece in mind, as opposed to using paint swatches or Pinterest (This point I didn’t really get to clarify on live camera).

You will see in the TV segment that my initial paint chip inspiration isn’t what I selected in the end AFTER choosing home decor pieces. The paint chips were merely a starting point to experiment with color combinations more than anything.

Paint is typically the last piece of the puzzle to pull together a whole look, as we have almost unlimited color choices. Benjamin Moore, and my second home SRH Paint , offer over 3,500 colors and custom matching options. I encourage folks to come into the store with some inspiration piece, such as art or a throw pillow, or even pictures from Pinterest or a decor magazine.
